Business, family papers, and memorabilia of the family of David Russell Hearn. Born in Georgia, Hearn moved to Madison County after the Civil War and engaged in farming and mercantile business. Hearn was married to Martha Jane Mixon, and they were the parents of H. B. Hearn, Alice M. Hearn, Maude Hearn, and James Asbury Hearn, II. James A. Hearn was the Mayor of Moselle, agricultural agent for the Southern Railroad, and the father of H. Power Hearn, one time member of the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. David R. Hearn was Secretary of Midway Local Union No. 1428 of The Farmers Educational and Co-operative Union of America in the early 1900s. Of interest is the record book kept by Hearn and Jones in connection with the leasing of county prisoners.
