Z 1013.000 Garner (Hezekiah) Commission

Commission of Hezekiah Garner to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Artillery of the Army signed on the seventh day of August 1820, by James Monroe, President, duly attested by J. C. Calhoun, Secretary of War. Hezekiah Garner was the grandfather of Mrs. Marcellus Green (Lulah Edelin Garner), and great-grandfather of Mrs. Elise Herring Smith. Mrs. Smith died on June 19, 1970, and the Commission was willed to the Department of Archives and History.
