BUTLER (ZEBULON) LETTERS
Two letters written by the Reverend Zebulon Butler, D. D., of Port Gibson. Butler (1803–1860) was a native of Pennsylvania, but came to Mississippi in 1826, founded the Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson, and served as pastor for thirty-three years.
One letter is to the Reverend Absalom Peter, Corresponding Secretary, A.H.M.S., New York, telling of the progress being made in religious work in Port Gibson, and the other letter is to the Reverend Winchester, the Reverend Vancourt, and Thomas Henderson, Natchez, Mississippi, introducing Dr. Edward Taylor.
