Z 1231.000 Green (Selina East) Estate Papers

Selina East Green (1887–1971) was the wife of Reverend Theophilus Walton Green who died in 1962. Mr. and Mrs. Green made donations of over $50,000 to Mississippi College and Mrs. Green left her entire estate to that institution. Selina Jewel East was the daughter of Elizabeth Thomas and Joel Walker East. Before marrying T. W. Green in 1962, Mrs. Green taught school in Tupelo, Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst, and several other Mississippi towns. The executor of her estate was Dr. R. A. McLemore, former Director of the Department of Archives and History. The estate papers are arranged in thirty-six folders which contain the wills of Mr. and Mrs. Green, insurance policies, deeds dating from 1857 to 1947, correspondence with R. A. McLemore concerning his estate, and city, county, state, and federal tax records.
