MCLEMORE (RICHARD AUBREY) PAPERS

This collection by McLemore consists of printed materials relating to the different divisions of the Mississippi Federation of Club Women which was organized in 1898 at Kosciusko. These divisions include the Woman's Club of Jackson, the Hinds County Federation of Woman's Clubs, and the Fortnightly Club. The object of the association is bringing the women of the state together for mutual assistance and united action in promoting the general welfare of the state. The Woman's Club of Jackson was organized December 15, 1922, and was federated with the Mississippi Federation of Club Women, April 6, 1923. Their purpose is to provide a center of thought and action, thereby focusing the strength of the women for the promotion of health, knowledge, service and spirit in the city. The Hinds County Federation of Women's Clubs serves as a clearing house for all Federation activities. The Fortnightly Club was organized in September, 1907, and was federated in March, 1909. The purpose was to serve as an outlet for the expression of literary taste.

The collection contains pamphlets on the Woman's Club of Jackson (1924–1932), year books (1915–1927), pamphlets on the Hinds County Federation of Women's Club (1932–1960), year books (1927–1931), and a Fortnightly scrapbook.
