Cyrus Decatur McElroy was a volunteer in Company H, 31st Mississippi Infantry.

Scope and Content

On leaving home for service in the Confederate army, C. D. McElroy promised his wife that he would keep a diary of his experiences and send portions of it to her in the form of letters whenever opportunity offered. This letter reflects his Civil War experiences during 1862.
