SLAVERY COLLECTION, ACCRETION
This artificial collection contains documents that relate to slavery in Mississippi. The bulk of the collection consists of estate inventories (mostly from Hinds County). These inventories generally contain name of slaves, age and assessed value. Of interest is a note written by "O Kibbe" requesting "a hundred dollars in small change" to "divide amongst the Negroes." The document is dated December 23, 1840.
