ROBINSON (THOMAS MITCHELL) PAPERS
Thomas Mitchell Robinson was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on October 19, 1894. He was the son of John W. and Ida Mitchell Robinson. He attended Augusta Military Academy, Fort Defiance, Virginia, from 1909 to 1912; Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi, in 1913; and Mississippi State College, Starkville, from 1913 to 1916. Robinson received a bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State College. He became a partner in Robinson and Julienne insurance agency in 1921. Robinson married Amalie Nance Fair, daughter of William Young and Amalie Sykes Fair, on November 1, 1928. He served as the business manager of Mississippi State College from 1932 to 1937; as a Mississippi state senator, Hinds County, Twelfth District, from 1940 to 1944; and in the Mississippi National Guard. Robinson was also a member of the Exchange and Sales Executives clubs in Jackson.
