PULLEN-CARSON FAMILY PAPERS, ACCRETION
This addition to the Pullen-Carson Collection consists of two scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings and ten individual magazines. Scrapbook "A" contains clippings concerning debutante announcements for Jackson residents in the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. The clippings are from the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. The clippings in scrapbook "B" are from the Memphis, Tennessee Commercial Appeal. These clippings are photocopies of greeting cards, poems, and the text of an 1829 speech delivered by Richard M. Johnson concerning the Sunday mail law. The magazines include the 1938 edition of Pegasus, an annual publication by Central High School in Jackson. Included also is the Spring 1971 edition of Junior League magazine, a publication marking the fifteenth anniversary of the Association of the Junior Leagues of America. Eight issues of The Rebel, a University of Mississippi publication. are the main portion of the magazine series. The Rebel issues for October 1939, October 1940, February 1941, March 1941, April 1941, May 1941, October 1941 and January 1942 are present.
