- correspondence to Edward Hoopes from family members (July 29, 1842–August 2, 1844) ff. 1
- correspondence to Elizabeth Hoopes of Port Gibson from her husband Edward Hoopes, with the Confederate army stationed at Camp Phillips, Florida, who writes of conditions in the camp and the morale of the troops (May 9, 1861–December 30, 1861) ff. 2
- correspondence to Elizabeth Hoopes from Edward during 1862, describing his involvement in the Battle of Shiloh, letters from Thomas Hoopes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Edward written in 1866 and 1867, letters to and from friends, a genealogical sketch of the Hoopes family, and a letter written to "Mrs. Spencer" from "Kathryn" describing the collection of letters (February 11, 1961) ff. 3.
