CORLISS (STEPHEN A.) COLLECTION

Stephen Corliss was a member of Company E of the Eighth Regiment of Vermont Volunteers in the Civil War. His son, Albert, was also a member of the same company. The collection contains photocopies of a power of attorney granting Mary Corliss the right to "draw my extra pay of $7 per month from the Treasurer of the State of Vermont," two letters written from Stephen Corliss to his wife (August 27, 1862, from Algiers, Louisiana, and December 9, 1862, from Ship Island) and a letter from Albert Corliss to his mother (April 24, 1863) telling her of the death of Stephen Corliss.
