BRANTLEY (A. H.) SCRAPBOOK
Scrapbook of newspaper clippings from 1883, kept by A. H. Brantley, a candidate for district attorney in the 5th judicial district. The clippings came from central Mississippi towns such as Winona, Kosciusko, Carthage, and Carrollton.
In the elections, E. F. Noel was nominated by the Democrats over the incumbent Brantley. The methods used at the nominating convention were quite controversial and much is said about them in the newspaper clippings. Brantley won the general election as an independent.
