DUBARD (ANNIE ELIZABETH) SCRAPBOOK
Annie Elizabeth Dubard (Lipscomb) was born February 19, 1912, the daughter of Lewis Adam Dubard and Alma Beck (Dubard), in Dubard. She attended Grenada College, Grenada, from 1930 to 1932, Woman's College of Alabama, Montgomery, Alabama, from 1932 to 1933, and enrolled in Mississippi State College for Women (Mississippi University for Women), Columbus, in 1933. While at MSCW, Annie Elizabeth Dubard met J. Walton Lipscomb, M.D., of Columbus. They were married at Dubard on June 6, 1934, and moved to Jackson where J. Walton Lipscomb established his medical practice. Annie Elizabeth Dubard (Lipscomb) died March 3, 1980. Grenada College, affiliated with the North Mississippi Conference of the Methodist Church, closed in 1932.
The scrapbook was kept by Annie Elizabeth Dubard while she was a student at Grenada College from 1930 to 1932, and Woman's College of Alabama, Montgomery from 1932 to 1933. The bulk of the scrapbook was maintained while she was a student at Grenada College. Items in the scrapbook include newsclippings which contain social news of the Dubard family, articles concerning friends of Annie Elizabeth Dubard, or school news; programs of recitals at Grenada College, many in which the creator of the scrapbook participated; programs of concerts and other events, some of which were at Millsaps College (Dubard's cousin, David Dubard, was active in the Millsaps College Band), Mississippi College, Clinton, and Belhaven College; letters written to Annie Elizabeth Dubard while she was a student at Grenada College; commencement programs for Grenada College, Millsaps College and Woman's College of Alabama; and memorabilia including calling cards, invitations, examinations and tickets to various events.
