Z 1901.000 Britton (Mary Macrery) Scrapbook

Mary Macrery Britton was the daughter of Audley Clarke Britton and Eliza Macrery Britton of Natchez, Mississippi. She married Lemuel Parker Conner in 1888. They had four children.

This scrapbook was compiled by Mary Macrery Britton of Natchez, Mississippi, and contains clippings from newspapers and magazines dating from 1885 to 1908. The majority of the clippings are jokes, humorous anecdotes, or poems, a few of which were written by people from the Natchez area. Some of the anecdotes may serve as examples of the local color style of writing popular at the time.
