Biography/History:

The Research Club of Jackson, Mississippi, was organized in the Ladies' Parlor of the New Capitol Building in Jackson on November 7, 1908. This women's organization was formed along broad lines for literary and artistic purposes. The programs at each meeting were devoted to the study of some cultural aspect, and as service projects, the club has supported cash awards and scholarships to encourage the development of literary and artistic talents. The Research Club was affiliated with state and national women's club federations.

Scope and Content:

These records document the history of the Research Club from 1969 to 1983. They include club minutes and memorial material for deceased members. Also included are yearbooks dating from 1978 to 1986, programs from significant club anniversaries, and miscellany documenting the relationship of the club with the National Federation of Women's Clubs.
