Patriotic American Youth
A concurrent resolution of the Fourteenth American Legion Auxiliary, Girls' State, was the mandate for organizing Patriotic American Youth in 1961. The resolution charged the governors of Girls' State and Boys' State with appointing committees to coordinate the activities of this conservative youth organization and to inform Mississippi high school and college students of the dangers of the Communist Party. Sara McCorkle served as executive director of Patriotic American Youth and was editor of Pay Day, the official publication of the organization. Charles McFadden, vice-president, Deposit Guaranty National Bank, served as president of the advisory board of Patriotic American Youth.
