BLUE LAKE HUNTING AND FISHING CLUB RECORDS
Biography/History:
The Blue Lake Hunting and Fishing Club was organized in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1918. Ryans Blue Lake was located in Madison County, twelve miles southeast of Canton, near the Madison-Rankin County line. The groups clubhouse was located in Rankin County. The original officers of the club were the following: B. B. Wiggins, president; H. V. Watkins, vice-president; D. A. Sheilds, secretary-treasurer. Blue Lake was apparently inundated during the construction of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
Scope and Content:
The ledger contains the minutes of meetings and financial records of the club. There is also one folder of correspondence, most of which concerns club business such as dues payment and improvements notification. The improvements discussed include the construction of new boats and repairs to the clubhouse.
