JACOBSON (HARRY ANDREAS) PAPERS
Biography/History:
Harry Andreas Jacobson was born in Burlington, Wisconsin, on June 13, 1886. Around 1916, he moved to Yokena, Warren County, Mississippi, where he was engaged in farming. He was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 1940. Jacobson served on several House committees, including those on agriculture (chairman), claims, conservation of natural resources, education, forestry, manufactures (vice-chairman), and railroads and public corporations. Two of the leading issues Jacobson dealt with during his years in the House were the construction of the Mississippi River bridge at Vicksburg and a proposal to raise the state gasoline tax. Jacobson died on December 4, 1956, leaving a wife and five children, including sons Wallace G., Richard C., and Robert T. Jacobson.
