Scope and Content Note:

Papers relating to land transfers in Washington, Warren, Yazoo, Sharkey, and Madison counties, concerning the families of Burwell Vick, his sons, Henry W. Vick and Gray J. Vick; and Dr. A. J. Phelps, of Nitta Yuma Plantation, on Deer Creek, Washington County. Of special interest are a Mississippi Territory indenture, March 27, 1810; and lists of enslaved persons for sale into slavery or mortgaged to the Bank of the United States, 1834-1849.

Included are the wills of Burwell Vick and Gray J. Vick; also correspondence between Dr. A. J. Phelps and Rev. George C. Harris concerning clarification of the property line dividing their adjoining plantations.
