Scope and Content Note:
The minutes and church registers of the Cato Baptist Church, Cato Springs, Rankin County. Members of the Cato Baptist Church at the time of its organization, December 17, 1853, were William G. Ross, Mary Ross, Elizabeth Jones, Mary Baker, John Cox, Judith Cox, Isaac Lawrence, and Alanson Nash.
The registers contain lists of the active and retired members of the church as well as regular entries concerning the work of the congregation.
The 52 miscellaneous items include church letters of recommendation, lists of contributors to Cato Baptist Church, a tabulation of votes cast in the Cato Precinct of the Democratic Primary Election on August 22, 1911, and a commencement program of the Johns Consolidated High School dated April 16, 1948.
