This collection consists of one bound volume of typewritten notes on the history of Vicksburg, Mississippi, compiled by Philip Crutcher from his files of nineteenth-century Vicksburg newspapers and a second loose-leaf volume of handwritten lists of prominent citizens of Vicksburg. The lists were later typed for inclusion in the second part of the bound volume.

There are also four photostatic copies of a May 1, 1863, map depicting "the siege of Vicksburg, its approaches by Yazoo Pass and other routes," drawn by T. S. Hardee and published by S. H. Goetzel and Company, Mobile, Alabama. Two photostats are positive (MA/Z/133.02; MA/Z/133.03) and two are negative (MA/Z/133.01; MA/Z/133.04).
