Diary, scrapbook, lectures, and letters of Henry Hughes (d. October 3, 1862), of Port Gibson. The diary contains 236 handwritten pages 21 cm. by 27 cm. in size and covers the period January 1, 1848–May 1, 1853. Two typewritten copies are also included. The scrapbook is filled with clippings about Hughes, contains 94 pages, and covers the period September 1, 1854–June 9, 1859. The lectures are as follows:

The remainder of the collection is composed of six letters, one receipt, and fragments of three lectures.
