Scope and Content Note:

Diaries (typewritten copies) of Dr. Walter Wade, a practicing physician and owner of Ross Wood Plantation, Jefferson County. The two volumes contain daily entries pertaining to the practice of medicine and the management of the plantation, accounts of the plantation and patients, lists of slaves, records of cotton picked, other miscellaneous information in regard to the plantation, and "Rates of charges for Professional Services adopted by the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Port Gibson, Mississippi, January 1st, 1840" (Vol. 1, pp. 94-96)/ Volume 1 (pp. 317) covers the period from November 25, 1834, to October 18, 1854; and the original book is 16 by 39 cm. in size and contains 314 pages. Volume 2 (pp. 235) covers the period from October 31, 1838, to June 16, 1849. The original book is 18.5 by 30 cm. in size and contains 239 pages.
