This collection consists of the manuscript autobiography of doctor and planter Jacob Perry Welch (1807-1901) of Alamutcha, Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Welch began the 372-page volume on January 1, 1857, and his last entry was made in 1898. Various family members have made subsequent annotations to the volume. It also contains family genealogical information and newspaper clippings.
