Letters and miscellaneous papers of Earl D. Cotton, of Jackson, a wireless operator on board the U.S.S. Sioux. The volume is a logbook kept by Cotton from March 10, 1918–December 5, 1918. The letters are written by him to his mother, Mrs. Edward Cotton. The miscellaneous papers include poems written by Cotton and a letter from O. K. Bullard, chief electrician, U.S.S. Sioux, describing Cotton's death. Cotton was the first Jackson serviceman killed during World War I.
