Biography
Robert A. Smith
Robert A. Smith was colonel of the Tenth Regiment, Mississippi Infantry, during his service in the Confederate army. Colonel Smith was killed at Munfordville, Kentucky, in September of 1862, and he was later buried in Jackson, Mississippi, where a monument was erected honoring him in 1868. He was the brother of James Smith, for whom Smith Park in Jackson was named.

Scope and Content:
The collection contains letters, dispatches, orders, reports, and court-martial proceedings. A later addition to the collection is Colonel Smith’s leather-bound King James Version of the Bible with appendices of psalms and hymns used by the Church of Scotland.
