Scope and Content Note:
Letters from J. J. Wilson, a member of Company C, Sixteenth Mississippi Regiment, CSA, to his father, James E. Wilson, his brother, John, and his sister, Julia, of Crystal Springs. The letters begin with Wilson's entry into service at Corinth. He participated in the first and second battles of Manassas, Winchester, Cold Harbor, Fredericksburg, and he was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. He gives accounts of the battles, lists of men of his company who were killed or wounded, and prices of goods in wartime Virginia and Maryland.
