Newspapers and magazine clippings assembled by Dr. Francis Newton Thorpe, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the time of the last illness of Jefferson Davis, Dr. Thorpe conceived the idea of gathering the world's opinion of Mr. Davis. There are On thousand, one hundred eighty-three clippings from two hundred twenty newspapers, and clippings from various magazines. Newspapers from every state in the union are represented, according to Dr. Thorpe, as well as England, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia and Italy.
