Autobiographical memoir of Judge Seth Lewis; memoirs of Mrs. Amelia Thomson, daughter of Seth Lewis, and of Mrs. Amelia Thomson Watts, grand-daughter of Seth Lewis. Judge Lewis practiced law in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and was Chief Justice of Mississippi Territory, 1800–1803, and attorney general, Natchez District, 1807–1808. He moved back to Louisiana in 1810, and died there on November 15, 1848. Also of interest is Mrs. Thomson's description of a summer on a Louisiana cotton plantation in 1832, and the sections dealing with Civil War experiences.
