Copies of letters to members of the Mississippi Legislature of 1916, replies to letters, list of members, copy of program, copy of speech by Heber Ladner, Secretary of State, all having to do with the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of Mr. Sillers' service in the Mississippi Legislature.

Walter Sillers (1888–1966) was a native of Rosedale, an attorney, served continuously for over fifty years in the House of Representatives from Bolivar County, twenty-two years of this as Speaker of the House, and was a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of the Department of Archives and History.

The idea for the commemorative ceremonies was conceived by Judge Ed H. Green, Cleveland, carried out by Heber Ladner, Secretary of State, and held at the opening session of the Legislature on January 4, 1966.
