Mark Taylor Bynum was the son of George Washington Bynum of Tishomingo County, Mississippi. In 1921 Mark Taylor moved to Jackson and was Secretary of the Mississippi Children's Home, and State Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
This collection contains scattered correspondence of the Bynum Family from 1864 to 1938; various materials relating to the Sons of Confederate Veterans; one scrapbook mainly of newspaper clippings, six autographed books, and thirty-one photographs. Also included is the commission of Andrew B. Dilworth, grandfather of M. T. Bynum, as Mississippi Secretary of State, signed January 4, 1858, by Governor McWillie.
