Scope and Content Note:

Walker Brooke (1813–1869) was a state representative and senator, 1848–1851, from Holmes and Sunflower counties. In 1851, he was appointed United States Senator from Mississippi. One of these two letters is addressed to Kettle and Moore, in care of the Democratic Review, New York, and discusses the possibility of an article to be written on Brooke. The other letter, from Brooke to Gen. T. A. D. Weaver(?), is about state politics and an article which appeared in the Mississippian.
