Microfilmed copy of three volumes of correspondence and papers of Sidney Baker Lee of Merigold, Bolivar County. S. B. Lee was born in Inverness (Sunflower County) on November 2, 1892. He moved to Merigold in 1896 as one of the town's first settlers. He attended A & M College (Mississippi State University) in Starkville in 1909 at the age of 16. He farmed two sections of land near Merigold and handled the mercantile business of his father.
These three volumes are comprised of prose, poetry, verse, correspondence and newspaper clippings which illustrate Lee's political and religious beliefs. The volume entitled "Cotton: Treason in the U.S.D.A." is a compilation of correspondence with United States Congressmen, newspaper editorials, and miscellaneous publications concerning the production of cotton in the Mississippi Delta.
