William Henry Anderson and Family Papers (Z/1157)

Biography:
Dr. William Henry "Wick" Anderson (18861969) was a prominent doctor, editor and civil leader of Booneville, Mississippi. Dr. Anderson was born at Dumas, Tippah County, and later attended Mississippi College, University of Mississippi, and Tulane University, where he studied under the noted surgeon, Dr. Rudolph Matas.
For many years Dr. Anderson was editor of The Mississippi Doctor, a monthly medical magazine, the Booneville Independent, and for a short while he was editor of Progressive Hospitals.
Scope and Content Note:
Included in this collection are correspondence and papers, undated, 19161970; speeches and articles by Dr. Anderson; newspaper clippings; and miscellaneous printed matter. Also there are papers concerning the Rotary Club, Blue Mountain College, Mid-South Post-Graduate Medical Assembly, personal financial records, and The Mississippi Doctor.
There are letters from Dr. Rudolph Matas, July 3, 1946, and April 15, 1935; B. G. Lowery, January 21, 1942, and January 27, 1942; Senator Pat Harrison, May 29, 1937; Senator John C. Stennis, December 7, 1950, September 5, 1952, November 30, 1960, April 6, 1964, and May 29, 1968; and Representative Jamie L. Whitten, February 25, 1970. Also there are letters from J. P. Coleman, Fielding A. Wright, Hugh White, Hayden Campbell, and Perrin Holmes Lowery. Four items of William W. Newhouse, 18281868, and one letter of W. P. Bullard to Thos. Bullard, February 11, 1863, are also included.
