Mary Elizabeth Russell Letters (Z/1215)
Date: 1946.
Scope and Content Note:
Mary Elizabeth Russell was the sister of Mississippi poet Irwin Russell. These three letters concern requests for information from Miss Russell by Laura D. S. Harrell, Department of Archives and History, for a series of articles that were to appear in the Journal of Mississippi History. Miss Russell wrote that she knew of no pseudonym used by Russell other than "Job Case," and she had never seen any posthumous publications of his poems. The first item, February 25, 1946, is a carbon copy of the letter to Miss Russell. The other two items, March 4, and July 9, are replies to Mrs. Harrell.
