Mississippi Broadcasters' Association Records (Z/1316)
Dates: 1924 - 1975
The Mississippi Broadcasters' Association was an idea, conceived and developed by Charles J. Wright of Hattiesburg, a pioneer in radio in the South. In 1935, he purchased radio station WFOR in Hattiesburg, and began a long and brilliant career in the management and broadcasting. He pioneered FM Broadcasting in south Mississippi in 1948, programming his FM station independently of the parent operation. This organization today is an affiliation of nearly all the radio and television stations of the state. Its purpose is to discuss problems pertaining to radio and television sales, programming, and operations.
