History:

This unit of the Mississippi Light Artillery, otherwise known as the Warren Light Artillery, was organized in Warren County on May 1, 1861. It was admitted into the armed forces of the Confederate States of America on August 9, 1861. This battery served diligently until the close of the Civil War. To commemorate this battery, a proclamation by Governor William Waller reactivated this unit, which was to be headed by the Honorable Frank Ward of Decatur, Illinois, on December 26, 1974.
