Moreau B. C. Chambers Papers (Z/1368)
Moreau B. C. Chambers was born in Winchester, Kentucky, May 24, 1909. He was the son of James Whitfield Chambers and Orra Browne Chambers. In 1932, he graduated with special honors at Mississippi College. In 1934, he served as curator and archaeologist for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Later, he received his Master's degree in history from Duke University (1942). As time progressed, he was appointed University Archivist at the Catholic University of America.
This collection contains the following material: correspondence, March 16, 1937 and n.d.; a paper on "Stampless Covers," November 9, 1936; a program of the meetings of the Capital City Philatelic Club, September 14, 1936July 12, 1937; a paper by Chambers dealing with Alaskan geography; an archaeological report entitled, "Pertinent Comments Upon Archaeology," circular no. 11, April 27, 1932; and three pamphlets, "The Monte Alban Treasure", 1933, "Codex Tulane," and "Remnant of an Ancient Land-Bridge," issued by the Carnegie Institution of Washington, volume II, number 12, March 15, 1931.
