Letters of S. T. Nicholson, son of Winifred Wiggins and Thomas Wright Nicholson of Enfield, Halifax County, North Carolina, written principally to his brother, Blake, and his sister. S. T. Nicholson and his brother left North Carolina with their slaves and came to Madison County and bought a plantation together at Livingston, near Canton. In 1861, S. T. Nicholson joined the Eighteenth Mississippi Regiment as a Major. These letters reflect the activities of S. T. Nicholson before, during, and after the Civil War. Also included are two payment receipts for the sale of slaves.
