The Red Lick School was established in Red Lick, Jefferson County, Mississippi, in January of 1836. This town is located about five miles southeast of Lorman. A total of fifty-eight students attended the school in 1859, and it continued to operate through at least 1863.

This collection consists of one bound, paginated minute book of the Red Lick School in Jefferson County, Mississippi, covering the years 1836 to 1863. The first pages record the January 1836 sale of land for the establishment of the school. Included are board of trustees minutes; accounts of students tuition payments; occasional school-fund statements; and students attendance records for the years 1846 and 1848. The initials "J. W. M." are inscribed on the spine.
