History:
United States President William Howard Taft arrived in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, on November 1, 1909. His itinerary included a luncheon at the governors mansion, a parade, and a visit to the state fair. A banquet honoring President Taft was held at the Edwards House that evening. The Edwards House was the forerunner of the Edwards and King Edward hotels. Jackson attorney James C. Longstreet was the toastmaster of the banquet. President Taft left Jackson immediately after the banquet.

This collection consists of two copies of a program from the banquet honoring President William Howard Taft during his visit to Jackson, Mississippi, on November 1, 1909. The program contains lists of banquet hosts and speakers and the dinner menu at the Edwards House. The hosts included Alfred Bourgeois, E. H. Galloway, Thaddeus B. Lampton, T. A. McWillie, R. W. Millsaps, and Frederick Sullens.
