8. Opinions of Prominent Men Concerning the Great Questions of the Times Expressed in Their Letters to the Loyal National League and Other Loyalists at Union Square, New York, on the Anniversary of Sumter (New York: C. S. Westcott & Co., 1863). (72 p.)

Compilation of almost a hundred replies from persons invited to speak at but unable to attend the mass meeting of the Loyal National League in New York City on April 11, 1863. Responses came from cabinet officers, senators, governors, congressional representatives, military officers, judges, and other dignitaries. The last eight pages on the pamphlet contain the words to four “national songs” sung at the meeting. Transcripts of the speeches by persons who were able to attend were published under a separate cover.
