28. “A Faithful Slave Liberated” and “Letters from Jamaica,” Littell’s Living Age 24 (January, February, March, 1850): 589-97.

Two items. The first is an excerpt from the will of a slave holder who manumitted his servant, a slave named David Rich, upon his death in an explosion on board the steamer Princeton. The second is a letter from Jamaica describing the country, probably written by W. C. Bryant, editor of the New York Evening Post.
