Annual report from the Commissioner of the Freedmen’s Bureau submitted to the Secretary of War, Ulysses S. Grant. The report contains two dozen tables with data relevant to the Bureau’s overall operation as well as sections delineating the Bureau’s activities in fourteen Southern states and the District of Columbia. Mr. Stone has marked several paragraphs of the report, especially those dealing with Mississippi. (The collection has another edition of this report for 1867 [Volume 34, No. 8].)
