Account of how the Episcopal Church in the United States separated into two branches over the issue of slavery, an anti-slavery Northern branch and a Southern branch that defended slavery on the basis of Biblical texts. Forty-four pages of this pamphlet are devoted to the “Introduction by an American Churchman,” while Bishop Wilberforce’s “Reproof of the American Church” because of its defense of slavery takes up the remaining fifteen pages. The date “Sep 7 1905” is stamped on the back of the last page.
