Whole issue of a monthly magazine for African Americans. This issue contains a reprint of an article from the Boston Transcript about Berea College’s struggle to offer educational opportunities for black students in the face of opposition from Kentucky’s legislature. The article reports that the Superior Court of Kentucky has affirmed the constitutionality of a statute prohibiting the education of black and white students in the same school. Meanwhile, the college has decided to establish a separate division for African Americans while it proceeds with an appeal of the Superior Court’s ruling to the United States Supreme Court.
