Manuscripts

In March 2004 Tougaloo College and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History entered into a collaboration to ensure the long-term preservation of and access to the collections that comprise the Tougaloo College Civil Rights Collection. The collaborative partnership agreement allowed Tougaloo to loan the collections to MDAH for reprocessing, preservation, and cataloging. To date, all but four collections have been reprocessed and cataloged. The remaining four unprocessed collections are available with curator's permission.

This list of archival collections and related materials such as books, subject files, or publications, that include materials relating to LGBTQ+ history, people, and places in the Mississippi. Each entry includes a brief description of the collection as it relates to this topic, and links to finding aids which provide more specific information about each collection.

This series was originally entitled “Periodical Publications – Welty’s Copies.” It has been re-titled to include short fiction appearing in other publications as well as periodicals, and now contains photocopies of her stories as well as complete publications kept by Welty.
