McWillie, Robert Lowry, J. A. P. Campbell, the Supreme Court (signed by A. H. Whitfield, S. S. Calhoon, and J. H. Price), and the Bar of the Supreme Court (signed by J. A. P. Campbell).

Photostats of three letters written by Zachary Taylor from Mississippi on Apr. 20, Sept. 18, and Dec. 15, 1820, to Brigadier General Thomas S. Jesup, Quartermaster General of the United States Army, and typewritten copies of two letters written by Taylor from Monterey, Mexico, on May 9 and Nov. 16, 1847, to Thomas W. Ringgold, Rodney, Miss. The three Jesup letters were printed in Holman Hamilton (ed.), "Zachary Taylor" in Journal of Mississippi History, III (Apr. 1941), 130–139.

SWANSON-YATES FAMILY PAPERS


Letters and papers of Mrs. Obedience Yates, wife of Ignatius Yates of Utica, and of Alexander B. Swanson and his wife, Maria Yates Swanson. Swanson, a naturalized Scotsman, was a school teacher and later a lawyer in Raymond. He served in the State Troops as a judge advocate, and afterwards went to Vicksburg where he apparently was a cotton agent for the Union Army.
