STEGALL (COLUMBUS W.) STORE LEDGER
Store ledger of C. W. Stegall of Stegall, Mississippi, for the year 1886. Along with personal accounts are included clippings from newspapers concerning home remedies for man and animal, and directions for the construction of house and farm tool. Also included is a poem read before the Mississippi Normal Alumnal [sic] Association, June, 1894.

STONE (ALFRED HOLT) COLLECTION
Alfred Holt Stone was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, and practiced law in Greenville in 1890. From 1916 to 1922 he served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from Washington County, and in 1932 he was elected chairman of the State Tax Commission. In 1914 Mr. Stone served as President of the Mississippi Historical Society. The majority of these papers include notes for speeches and research material on Mississippi used by Stone in association with the Mississippi Historical Society.

Scope and Content Note:
Principally letters received in 1893 from Mississippi authors and in regard to Mississippi authors by Alfred Holt Stone, of Greenville, who was collecting material for use in writing a literary history of Mississippi. Letters are included from Herman M. Bien, Frank Burkitt, Charles B. Galloway, Ellen E. Hebron, B. G. Humphreys, S. A. Jonas, S. D. Lee, James D. Lynch, J. S. McNeily, Edward Mayes, Charles H. Otken, and J. L. Power.

Scope and Content Note:
Legal and business papers of Leonidas H. Stewart, "Merchandise and Provision Broker," of Memphis, Tennessee. The bulk of the papers pertains to the administration of the estates of Thomas C. Bryan, John R. Allen, Mary C. Allen, and C. S. Allen, of which Stewart, or his wife, Mrs. Sallie V. Stewart were executors. Bryan owned some property in Panola County, Mississippi.
