History:

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized in the home of Mary S. Lockwood on November 11, 1890. The organization was incorporated in Washington, D.C., in 1891 and chartered by an act of Congress in 1896 to promote historical, educational, and patriotic endeavors. The NSDAR is a lineage-based society with over three thousand chapters in the United States.
